Meet Our Staff

Introducing our wonderful team who keep our Centre running smoothly.

Debbie Brennocks has been the Director of the Sandra Jones Centre since 2000. She commenced her mission work in Zimbabwe as a youth worker for Youth For Christ in 1989, and later became the personal assistant to the YFC Zimbabwe National Director. Since then she has worked tirelessly to enable the people of Zimbabwe to better themselves as she has served in the roles of YFC Bulawayo Director (1998 – 2000), YFC Zimbabwe National Director (2000-2011) and Director of the Sandra Jones Centre (2000 – current).Debbie is a graduate of North Queensland College of Ministries, and has a degree in psychology through the University of South Africa.Debbie has adopted four wonderful little girls – Stefanie, Madison, Rebecca and Christy – who are a real joy in her life and a shining example of her commitment and devotion to Zimbabwean children.

On the 2011 Australia Day honours list, Debbie was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for her service to the international community.

Debbie’s favourite scripture is Exodus 14:14.

 

Thina Dube is the Executive Director and Councellor at the SJC. She commenced with the SJC in 2003 as a part-time supervisor at the Crisis Pregnancy Centre and undertook a 1 year councelling course prior to commencing councelling at the SJC in 2005.Thina was born in Gwanda and moved to Bulawayo in 1984. She is married to Patrick and has 3 biological daughters – Naomi, Ruth and Zanele, an adopted daughter Diane, and a stepson Terrence.In her spare time, Thina loves to listen to preaching and music, and her favourite scripture is Isaiah 64:8.
Angela Jones is the Assistant Centre Manager. Angela started with the SJC as Supervisor of the Babies’ Home when the SJC was located at Willow Park, but since moving to the new location, Angela has taken on the role of Assistant to Fleur.Angela is married to James and has 2 daughters and 3 sons. She loves to relax by watching TV and cooking. Angela loves working with the kids, and especially the toddlers.Angela’s favourite scripture is Exodus 14:14.

Jester Nxumalo is a Councellor at the SJC. She commenced with the SJC in 2005 as the Chaplain and Councellor.Jester was born outside Bulawayo but has lived in Bulawayo since 1980. She is married to James and has two children – Ntokozo and Mthokozisi.In her spare time Jester likes to watch movies and spend time with her family.Jester’s favourite scripture is Jeremiah 29:11.

 

 

Jacqui Martin was born in Zambia and moved to Gweru in 1971 where she remained with her family until 1983 when she went to South Africa to work at the African Enterprise Conference Centre. In 2002 she returned to Zimbabwe and started working at YFC (and then SJC) as bookkeeper. In 2012 Jacqui moved into the role of Human Resources.Jacqui is single and has a nine year old foster daughter, Nicole, who came to Jacqui when she was three years old after being placed in a children’s home. Nicky is the light of Jacqui’s life.Jacqui loves to read and sew. She is very good with her hands and loves to do any type of handcraft. She is a quiet unassuming person with a sharp tongue and an excellent sense of humour.
Emelda Mawamure has with the SJC since July 2012.Emelda was born in Masvingo and moved to Harare in 1999. In 2001 she moved to Wales (UK) to study English, Maths and Accounting and returned to Bulawayo in February 2012, commencing as a volunteer at the SJC in March.Emelda loves to read mystery novels and cannot nominate a single favourite scripture – she just loves the whole Bible!
Michelle (Micki) Sant wears a number of hats at the SJC including Public Relations, Events Co-ordinator and Personal Assistant to Debbie and has been with the SJC since 2013. She initially commenced as a volunteer with YFC in 2000.Michelle (Micky to her friends) was born in Bulawayo but moved to the UK in 2001, staying for 11 years. She returned to Bulawayo in 2013 and is married to Nathan and Mom to 1 year old Lily.Michelle likes to spend time with family, fishing, reading, and listening to music. Her favourite scriptures are Jeremiah 29:11 and Isaiah 61:1.
Portia Mapako is Administration Assistant at the SJC and assists with the Kidz Kan program. She commenced with YFC as a Field Worker in 1998.Portia was born in Bulawayo and has lived here all of her life. She has 2 daughters – Grace and Trisha.In her spare time, Portia loves to read and cook, and her favourite scripture is Ephesians 6:10-18.
Yussif Yassim is our brilliant and patient driver who works so hard taking our children to hospital visit’s, takes our family tracing team on home visits, doing the shopping for the centre ever so faithfully once a week and picks our children up from their schools everyday. He is highly valued to all of us.
Smilo Sibanda is our teacher at the Vocational Skills School (Fruitful Harvest). She is such an inspiration to each of the girls and a brilliant teacher in so many ways. She encourages and motivates the girls as well as helping give them such a special gift to walk away with one day…. the gift of knowledge. Smilo is married with 3 children and has been with us since 2013. Her favourite verse is Psalm 8:1

Carol Smith

Caroline Smith is from Bulawayo and been a teacher at both Petra Primary School and Whitestone School.  Both top schools in Zimbabwe. She has lived in South Africa for the past 10 years but returned recently to Zimbabwe and through her love for Sandra herself, she came to the Centre and immediately fell in love. She is currently running our onsite Primary School and doing amazing work with each of her children helping them catch up to main stream schooling.  In the first 2 weeks we have seen such a change in each of the children.  In her free time, she loves to read, run and is very creative in doing Scrap booking and creating beautiful Mosaic’s. Her favourite verse is Philipians 4:5&6.

Pathi MoyoSiphathisiwe (Patty) Moyo has returned to us after almost 3 year away.  She is from Nkulumane, Bulawayo and joins the team once again as our Primary School teacher. She is braving it with our 3-5 year olds and is doing such an amazing job with them.  She loves listening to music and playing netball in her free time.  Her favourite verse is Psalms 91

 

Kitchen Mothers

Rosina Ndlovu, our very gentle soul in the kitchen! Rosina has such a gentle spirit and is respected by many at the Centre. She is married with 7 children and an amazing 15 grand-children who she is so proud of each one. She has been with us since 2012 and her favourite verse is John 14:1
Rhoda Ncube, our beautiful Rhoda! You hardly ever find Rhoda not smiling. Her bubbly nature is very infectious and her cooking is delicious. Rhoda is married with 3 children, 3 grand-children and has been with us since 2012. Her favourite verse is Psalm 136
Elenath Nkomo is another of our hard working ladies in the Kitchen who provided for our children through their gift of cooking. Elenath has 4 children and 2 grandchildren and has been with us since 2013. Her favourite verse is Genesis 1:1

 

 

 

Matron of the Centre

Bakhile Mhlanga has been with us since 2012 and is such a hard worker. She keeps us all motivated and working with her amazing servant heart of bring us all coffee each morning. Bakhile is such a soft and gentle person to each and everyone. She also helps around the Centre, keeping it looking beautiful and clean. She also helps the other mothers from time to time with the Children and with the kitchen duties. She is a widow with 6 children, 2 grand-children and her favourite verse is Luke 16:13. Do we really know who Christ is as Christians!

 

House Mothers

Maria Ndebele has been with us since 2012 and is one of our very hard working housemothers. She has 4 children and 3 grandchildren. Sadly she lost 3 of her children but this has given her a wonderful compassionate heart for our children and she cares for them dearly. Her favourite verse is Psalm 139
Cathrine Ndlovu
Sinikiwe Nkala has been a house mother at the Centre since 2012. She is a widow with a 10 year old son. Her favourite verse is Psalm 139
Nelitha Lusaba is married with 4 children, 8 grand-children and has been with us since 2012. Nelitha is a very hard working mother at the Centre who is loved by all the children. Her soft and gentle nature helps in caring and loving our children they way they need to be. Her favourite verse is Psalm 23
Saziso (Notice) Gumede is one of our very hard working mothers who helps the children the Centre looking smart and clean. Saziso is married with 4 children and 1 grandchild. Her favourite verse is Isaiah 59:1-3
Christina Tshuma is oldest mother who has a young heart who has been with us since 2012. Our older girls tend to go talk to a lot and seek her wisdom. She has 5 children of her own and 10 grandchildren. Her favourite verse is John 14:1

Grounds staff

Message Sibanda has been with the Sandra Jones Centre since 2012 and has been a hard worker attending our grounds and keeping them looking as beautiful as they do. He has 6 children, 2 grandchildren. His favourite verse is Luke 16:13
Bekithemba (Themba) Sibanda also joined us at the beginning of 2015 and has been making such a difference in the gardens and grounds of the Centre since he joined us. He is one of 4 children and enjoys any jobs where he can help. His favourite verse is Isaiah 58:9.
Jimmy Muchimba heads up the Chicken and Rabbit Project. He also helps maintain and oversee the Agricultural Project we have going at Fruitful Harvest. He also helps with any other chores needed around the farming area and helps maintain it.
Marko Muleya joined us at the beginning of 2015 to help out the back with the upkeep of Fruitful Harvest and has been an amazing help in every way so far. He loves to weld and is one of 3 children and is a father to one boy. His favourite verse is 2 Corinthians 5:17.
